Senator Johnny Isakson

U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson will install the 2015-2016 ACCG Board of Managers during the 2015 ACCG Annual Conference. Sen. Isakson is a respected businessman and public servant having served 17 years in the Georgia Legislature and two years as chairman of the Georgia Board of Education, in which he was appointed by former Governor Zell Miller, before his tenure with the U.S. Senate. Sen. Isakson initially served in the U.S. Congress in 1999 as a member of the House of Representatives before being elected to the U.S. Senate in 2004 and 2010, where he is currently serving his second term.

Sen. Isakson is a member of various Senate committees including Veterans’ Affairs (chair), Finance, Ethics (chair) and Foreign Relations as well as the Subcommittee on International Trade, Customs, and Global Competitiveness in which he also serves as chair. Additionally, he is a member of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions where he maintains his career-long commitment to improving education.

A 1966 University of Georgia graduate, Sen. Isakson served in the Georgia Air National Guard from 1966 to 1972. He and his wife Dianne are residents of Cobb County where they are members of Mount Zion United Method Church. They have three children and nine grandchildren.
